Richard won the 1989 Lawrence and Lee award in playwriting for Overdue. Gift of God also received an award and has been produced by the LA Jewish Theater and the Ad Hoc Theater of Richester, MN. Most recently, he was commissioned to write a radio play, Mitzvah on the Mesa, by the Wells Fargo Radio Theater. He also participated in the 1993 Bay to Breakers race, finishing 31,354th out of 80,000.
